Hey, Hi, Hello,
Education is in my blood. My mother was an early childhood educator who instilled a deep love of learning, community, and intellectual commitment into me from a very young age. Upon joining the academy, I realized just how often Black women’s labor, love, and contributions were taken without appropriate crediting, while the very issues that defined, changed, and challenged our lives were often deeply ignored.
My research and speaking centers on issues of workplace bullying, professional preparation and advancement, workplace and life-associated stress, cancer, and HIV/AIDS. And, I often tell these stories from a place of resilience, pleasure, and persistence.
I center on Black women because I know liberating Black women means liberating us all… Within this, I disrupt contemporary media narratives that constrain our stories and existence to doom and gloom framing…

This is why my work deeply centers on Black women’s thriving, pleasure, and happiness– because it is not just our resilience but our ethics of care that make the world a better place. As a researHER, I interrogate the status quo to help us (re)imagine better futures relating to–

I refuse for me, my work, and my contributions to be placed into a box… Because I believe we can create a better world for us all, and it must start by centering Black women.
“Dr. Williams was such an amazing guest speaker...
this week for our class it was so interesting to hear her methods of outreach for HIV/AIDS awareness. In our class, it is sometimes difficult to conceptualize how to destabilize and combat some of the misinformation on various topics when they have been so ingrained over decades… Medical misinformation has always piqued my interest… [and] she was very knowledgeable on the topic, yet was able to communicate in common terms, always with a clear progression of thought; I assume this is what makes her such a great advocate against misinformation. I valued how she decided to cover misinformation coming from more liberal sources… [Making] it clear that misinformation can infiltrate anyone, no matter their political views. Nobody is immune!”
